Which is better? Paying annually or monthly hosting fees

Tags: ,

While considering signing up with a new hosting company, we are presented with two options for paying the hosting fees. It’s either annual payment or monthly payment. While most of us choose to pay monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or annually - which of these payment option is better and under what circumstances?

When is paying annually better than other options?

  • When you sign up with a reputable, well known host, it’s quite ok to pay annually.
  • You are signing up because of a promotional offer and see a considerable amount of savings if you pay for a year of hosting in advance.
  • There is no way, you could pay lower than what you would pay if paid annually. What I mean to say here is - the web hosting company may not bring down the hosting charges to an extent that will be lower than what you will pay to them in advance.
  • The hosting company has money back policies such that your money will be refunded during first few weeks of signing up with them, in case you are not happy with them.

When is paying annually not a better option?

  • When you are not sure about the reputation of the company.
  • If your business plan may change and you may need to change your hosting company or anything on those lines.
  • When the hosting company is fairly new in the market and their credentials have not been established yet.

It’s always recommended that you pay the hosting fees on a monthly basis rather than paying it annually. You never know what happens next month.
